450 grams of mycelium grown on enriched sawdust for inoculation of logs. Large amounts of mycelium in combination with deep kanals for rapid growth is our key to success! Inoculate using our mycelium injector and cover with eco friendly bees wax. Mycelium, injector, drills and bees wax are included.

450 grams of mycelium of the variety you choose
1 x 18mm drill bit
1 x 6mm drill bit
150 grams of beeswax
1 wax applicator

Choose fresh logs without damage to the bark.

1. Drill 4 cm deep holes with the 18 mm drillbit and in the same hole 11-37 cm deep with 6 mm drillbit to create a channel for the mycelium to penetrate. The holes are drilled 15-20 cm apart in a zigzag pattern on the outside of the log and with 5 cm intervals in the surface wood 2 cm from the bark.

2. Fill the holes with mycelium using the the mycelium injector, leave 5 mm for waxing.

3. Seal the holes with the supplied beeswax by melting it in a pan (suggested by water bath). Dip the wax applicator and "dab" on the hole.

4. Soak the logs for a couple of days or moisten well with a water sprinkler.

5. Place the logs upright in a shady place protected from the wind.

6. Soak/water the logs as needed to maintain moisture content.

If the climate exceeds 25, we wait for cooler temperatures before sending the packages in order for your products to arrive to you in the best possible condition.

It of course depends on how many logs you are going to graft and which tools you use.

 Three meters with a diameter of 35 cm takes about an hour from drilling until they are ready to be planted.

You make it even easier if you have the right tools. Such as Svamphuset's specially made drill for fast-growing mycelium, mycelium injector and a wax applicator .

It takes between eight and fifteen months for most species we sell. Sometimes longer. But it also depends on the type of wood, how much water the log has, how much fast-growing mycelium was grafted and what the weather is like during the first year.

Our tip for faster fruiting is to soak the log for 2-3 days before drilling holes.

Do you really want to speed up colonization; Double the recommended amount of mycelium in the log and keep the log moist during the driest and hottest months.

If you have access to store the log in a barn, carpenter's shed or similar during the winter, this can also speed up the process because the mycelium can then grow actively even during the winter.

Each mushroom species has its own favorites. You can find recommended types of wood under each mushroom species when looking at mycelium plugs, fast growing mycelium or log growing kits.

Generally speaking, most deciduous trees do well.

Harder types of wood such as oak and alder produce fungus for a longer time as the mycelium has more compact nutrients to consume.

Oak and birch are two types of wood that work for most of the species we sell.

But as I said, take a look at the species you intend to graft and check the specific recommended wood species for that particular species.

Depending on mushroom species, choice of tree, and size of log, you can harvest fresh mushrooms from two years all the way up to 10+ years. Larger logs take longer for the mycelium to colonize, but also provide more years of fungus compared to a smaller log that colonizes faster, but provides fewer years of harvest.

NO! They are not mold. Mycelium is usually white, fuzzy. What you see in the jar is the mycelium that has grown strongly and is ready to colonize the log.
