One of our best selling mycelium plugs in a complete kit! A perfect kit for those who want to grow a small larger amount of Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) on wood. The kit contains three jars of mycelium plugs with 100 plugs per jar. A total of 300 mycelium plugs which are enough to graft / inoculate a 4-6 meter log. It is very easy to use mycelium plugs: Drill holes in the log, tap the mycelium plugs into the holes, seal with wax, done. After that, just wait. Once the mushrooms arrive, you can harvest mushrooms for several years from each log, depending on the mushroom species, the size of the log and the choice of tree species. The kit contains everything you need to get started, and you save SEK 94 more than if you were to buy everything separately.

Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is a nutritious mushroom that produces medium to large, brown, umbrella-shaped caps. The taste is strong, buttery, salty and just right with umami. Shiitake fruits (develops mushrooms) throughout the summer until a bit in the fall. It tends to produce generous yields and is a great mushroom for beginners as well as seasoned mushroom growers. Shiitake colonizes logs quickly and is among the most reliable producers of any mushroom species available. A favorite with us at the mushroom house, and with our customers!

1. Choose fresh logs without damage to the bark.

2. Drill 4 cm deep holes with 8-10 mm diameter in a zigzag pattern with 10 cm between the holes.

3. Plug with the mushroom house's mycelium plug.

4. Seal the holes with borehole wax using the wax applicator For borehole wax; melt it beforehand in a pan through a water bath and dip the wax applicator in the melted wax which you then "dab" on the holes once or twice.

5. Soak the logs for one to two days or moisten well with a water sprinkler.

6. Place the logs standing or lying down in a shady place protected from the wind.

7. Soak/water the logs as needed to maintain moisture content.
